This 15-minute video gives a brief history of the artificial life simulation GenePool, which was based on Darwin Pond. It includes some results a collaboration between ecologist Luka Negoita, Ph.D. and GenePool creator Jeffrey Ventrella, on adding speciation, food niches, and coexistence.
